This crisp white blouse is our take on the shirt blouse worn by women writers, freedom fighters of Kerala, India in the era leading upto India's Independence. The blouse has a multi-hued edging. A versatile blouse, it can go from fun and flirty to crisply formal. Niram means colour in Malayalam, which is the language of Kerala, a sliver of a coastal state in India's deep south, famous for its languid network of glistening backwaters. Just setting foot on this swathe of soul-quenching, palm-shaded green will slow your stride to a blissed-out amble.

This shirt blouse is part of THE KAITHARI PROJECT, Pioneer Women Collection. It is handwoven, designed and tailored in Kerala, India.

THE KAITHARI PROJECT (Kaithari meaning handwoven in Malayalam; Kai<Malayalam>=Hand and Thari<Malayalam>=Weave) is our ode to the rich weaving heritage of Kerala. We have come up with textile designs that bring out the unique weaving traditions specific to each geographical region. Our attempt has been to infuse a riot of colours, inspired by the lush vibrance of Kerala. A little design intervention, a play of colours & textures, a slight tweak to the original.
